Hawaii folk who remember KIKI Radio when it was the powerhouse Top 40 radio station (ahem…we’re talking the 70′s), or KORL Radio in its heyday with Dan Cooke and Willie Moku on the roster, will remember Steven B. Williams. More info can be found here.
Beeven Stee (as we called him) was too good a person to go this way. A bunch of his friends had kept vigil (and when we heard the news, had kept quiet) since Beeven went missing; everyone has been devastated by this. Since it’s now public information, I finally get to say g’bye.
Beeven, I know you’re up there somewhere. I still have that dress you liked so much. But no, you still can’t wear it.
If you’re a Steven B. fan and would like a trip down memory lane, here’s a little taste of his silliness (along with that of his Denver co-host Dan Hawkings). Even if you didn’t know him, you’ll enjoy these slapstick commercials that mimic Bob & Ray and poke fun at some revered consumer products of the time. Steven’s is the smooth, deep, velvety-sexy voice in each piece…you simply must listen to the WHAMCO Cellars Grapes of Wrath ads!
