My dermatologist suggested I get myself some microdermabrasion treatments because I have a problem with little white bumps on my cheek. Mind you, he made this suggestion about six months ago, at a time where the thought of grinding my face with salt and vaccuuming it up through a suction hose did not sit well with me.
I’m glad I finally made an appointment and endured the pain. In four treatments, I’m told, I will have new skin. So long as it isn’t wrinkled skin I’ll be very happy. After this first treatment it is baby soft. Sorta red and swollen, but still baby soft, hehe!
He also put me on a new medication for those little white bumps called Tazorac, which is a psoriasis medication found to work well on acne. Having suffered through Differin (and its accompanying hair loss) and Retin-A (which did not make me look like Cher), this is my last hope for smooth skin. I’ll let you know how it works in about two months.
Oh, and there are a couple of chemical peels in my future, too, to get rid of some acne scarring. It’s nice to know my health insurance will pay for 90% of these treatments. Who needs a spa when one has a sympathetic skin guru?
