I am shocked and saddened by the death of Melody Lam, whose daughter was a classmate and playmate of Cyd’s. I had run into her husband, Danny, a few times in the past two months, and he had expressed concern over his wife’s wishes for a divorce. He was distraught over the thought of his family falling apart.

Danny was proactive at the school, always involved in his children’s affairs, an energetic and generous guy. Melody was a beautiful woman with terrific style and a flawless complexion that I envied. Cyd used to spend a lot of time playing at their house. They gave us water lilies, invited us to birthday parties, and were involved in numerous school activities. I think all of us who know them are reeling from this. My last glimpse of them together was when they were selling cookies at a fundraiser, with their kids, barely a month ago.
